Welcome to KnD Cosplay!

A blog about sewing, crafting, and cosplaying!

Meet Kayla!

Cosplay Builds

Follow along on my cosplay journey! I want to share as much of my process as I can, from designing my build, to choosing my fabrics/patterns, to sewing and crafting the design. Most of my cosplays are for me, but I sew for family and friends as well!

Beyond sewing, I try to also incorporate other crafts into my cosplay. I knit and crochet, 3d print, and am learning how to style wigs and foam craft!

While not a professional pattern designer, where I am able I digitize self made patterns and will make them available to you!

New to the Craft!

I am a newer cosplayer, and I so wish I had learned of and started this hobby sooner. I began my cosplay journey in the summer of 2022 and I never looked back!

I learned to sew as a pre-teen (my mother was a quilter and sold baby clothes on Ebay, so I got to play with her sewing machine, so I knew "basics") Long story short, I picked up sewing again in my twenties but only knew some basics. It really kicked off sewing my first cosplay and I've been learning and growing ever since!

Growing my craft through competition!

I’ve always loved a challenge, whether I am competing against myself or against others. On a whim I began competing earlier this year at the Mid Valley Comic Arts Expo, and to my surprise took third place with my Sylveon cosplay! I really loved seeing the other cosplays, getting feedback from judges, and learning what I could improve on in my own work. Since then I have competed twice more at WasabiCon and KumoriCon. I have met so many amazing cosplayers, and love the push that competing gives me to take my cosplays one step further and try new skills. I hope to continue competing and continue challenging myself and putting myself out there!
